Every distillery has a cat, and the Shed Distillery's is famous enough to get its own bottle. This limited edition of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin honors the resident mouser of PJ Rigney's distillery in the village of Drumshanbo, County Leitrim — founded in 2014 as the first new distillery in Connacht in over a century — with a special ceramic bottle bearing the cat's likeness. The gin inside is unchanged: Ireland's best-selling gin, named for the slowly dried Chinese gunpowder green tea that's one of its key botanicals. Juniper, angelica, orris, caraway, cardamom, coriander, star anise, and meadowsweet from the local meadows are steeped and distilled in medieval-style copper pot stills, while the gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, oriental grapefruit, and kaffir lime are vapor-infused through baskets. Bottled at 43% ABV. The Ultimate Spirits Challenge found a soaring nose of black tea, key lime zest, fresh-cut ginger, eucalyptus, sage, and juniper, with a rich, botanical-packed palate belied by a hint of honey-toned sweetness. Wine Enthusiast's blind panel found an assertive citrusy aroma with tropical fruit, a minty, light palate with plenty of juniper, and a tingly, drying finish of grapefruit peel and powdery florals. A collector's bottle of a genuinely great gin — built for a G&T with a slice of grapefruit, Rigney's own serve, or a bright Martini.Buy Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin Distillery Cat Edition online with fast shipping right to your door.
