Kaiyo The Rye 10 Year Limited Edition Japanese Whisky is a rarity: a rye whisky made in Japan and matured in the country's signature wood. Kaiyo, the brand known for aging its whisky in mizunara oak and sending the casks on ocean voyages, aged this rye for ten years and finished it in mizunara casks before bottling at 46% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It pours a radiant amber. The nose is toasted rye spice with honeyed sweetness and delicate florals. The palate layers robust spice with caramel, vanilla and oak in a velvety texture, while the mizunara adds its distinctive sandalwood and incense notes. The finish is long and satisfying with a gentle, lingering warmth. Sip it neat, or build the most unusual Manhattan you have ever made.Japanese rye with a ten-year age statement is almost unheard of, and this limited edition is one for collectors.
