Django Django: Born Under Saturn Vinyl 2LP｜ Other Products

Django Django came out with a singular sound on their 2012 debut. They band of former Edinburgh art students merged psych filled surf guitar sounds precision based motorik beats. Their vocals were often delivered in unison before breaking off into sophisticated harmonies. Born Under Saturn sees the band further refine this sound into something even more their own. You can hear the band working together like a machine throughout the album. From the vocals, which continue to be made up of many voices, to the impeccably timed changes in the songs the band members seem to be in perfect sync with each other. You can hear a mix of divergent influences in their music. The Beach Boys, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder and Ennio Morricone all come to mind immediately. It's not that Django Django make derivative music, far from it. Their able to take these different touch points and create something that is undeniably new, yet sounds comfortingly familiar. If you're not already a fan, you will be by the time you're done listening to this album.
