J.J. Corry The Hanson Irish Whiskey is the single grain expression from Chapel Gate Whiskey in Cooraclare, County Clare, Ireland's first modern whiskey bonder, founded by Louise McGuane. Grain whiskey is often treated as filler in Irish blends; The Hanson puts it front and center, matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) without chill filtration. The style is light and sweet: vanilla, coconut and honey from the bourbon wood, soft cereal and citrus on the palate, and a clean, gentle finish with a little oak spice. It is an easy, elegant sipper and a superb cocktail whiskey, especially in a highball, a Whiskey Sour or an Irish coffee where its sweetness shines. This 750ml bottle is a great way to taste what well-aged Irish grain whiskey can do on its own.
